Are your Barbets AKC? Yes, all of our Barbets are registered with AKC.
Do I get papers and can I register my puppy with AKC? Absolutely and please do! You will receive the necessary paperwork to register your puppy.
What testing is done? We Embark DNA test and screen. OFA tested for hips, elbows and eyes. Results are available upon request.
Are Barbets good with children? Yes, Barbets are known as friendly and gentle dogs.
Are Barbets good with other pets? Yes, Barbets are generally good with other dogs, cats and other pets.
Do Barbets like swimming? Barbets are natural swimmers. We even have a “pro” paddle boarder.
Are Barbets hypoallergenic? Barbets have hair rather than fur which is associated with lower shedding. While the are often considered more allergy-friendly, no dog is truly hypoallergenic.
Is their coat hard to care for? Barbets have hair rather than fur. Regular bathing with shampoo and conditioner, along with routine brushing and combing helps keep their coat healthy.
Can I meet the parents? Absolutlely!
What type of environment are the parents and puppies in? All of our Barbets are in our home, they are members of our family. Puppies are exposed to household noises, outdoor sounds and smells, music, tv, doorbells, different types of surfaces to walk on and many more things. We spend time holding and playing with the puppies and provide toys to encourage their curosity. We work to help ensure future grooming will be easy with baths, paws and pads touched on a regular basis, nails clipped and combing. Puppies spend time with the parents as well as other dogs of all ages.
Can I fly to pick-up my puppy? We are happy to meet you at the Charleston airport so you can carry your puppy on board.
Is there an application process? We begin with a personal phone conversation with every prospective family. This allows us to get to know you, learn about your lifestlye, and ensure a Barbet is the right fit for your home. It also gives you plenty of time to ask questions and get to know us.
