It is important to understand the history of the barbet in choosing your barbet breeder.  We strive to have “old line” or Vieux Barbet with wide open curls and a descendant of the Griffon. Barbets have been used in the creation of other breeds such as the Bichon Frishe, Newfoundlands and Briards.  Nevieux Barbets resulted from breeding black poodles into the line, this results in a very different dog with fluffy and tight curls, body shape and personality.

Our dogs come from a combination of old line French and Italian breeders, CKC Champions from Canada and are all AKC. The line has been used in guide dogs for the blind in France and therapy dogs in the US. Our goal is to bring you the closest authentic Vieux Barbet possible by combining the best DNA.
